We’re lifelong residents of North Texas who always dreamed of retiring in the Colorado mountains—a place we've cherished since childhood vacations. But everything changed after a work-related conference brought us to South Padre Island (SPI). From the moment we arrived, we were captivated. SPI offered something we hadn’t expected: crystal-clear blue water and soft sandy beaches that far exceed anything we’d experienced on other Texas coastlines. It didn’t take long for us to realize—this could be our dream retirement destination. That first visit to South Padre Island opened our eyes to a new kind of paradise. We fell in love with the island's charm, natural beauty, and vibrant community—and knew this was where we wanted to build our next chapter.
